The System:
Protocols
From the moment you book a session, you enter a system that runs on protocols. Protocols are clear and thinking about them upfront isn’t required. Instructions and commands are giving at every stage.
Protocols exist in two forms. The combination makes the system rigid where it must be and adaptive where it serves you.
Forming Protocols are introduced within your session. They are calibrated to you specifically. I design the session and determine the exact rules for you. Your only task is to comply. These protocols and rules are thus formed by me, adjusted to you. If you book another session with me, or even become a regular, your behavior will be continuously shaped.
Fixed Protocols
Fixed Protocol
The Application protocol explains how to arrange a session in three steps.
A. Apply
Fill out the application form.
B. Book
Submit the booking form with preferred dates and times, at least one week in advance.
C. Confirm
If you are accepted into The System, you receive an email with information, and my confirmation of the date and time. Or an alternative proposal. Your only task now is to confirm.
Fixed Protocol
The Arrival Protocol covers the transition from autonomy into a system of control.
Upon arrival you proceed to the Transition Unit and open the envelope with your identification number (ID). You will find the envelope and everything required for preparation on the Preparation Deck.
The envelope contains a key-tag with your ID and clear instructions to rinse and prepare. You change into the provided attire, with the option to wear the provided mask. Next, you enter the dojo.
Fixed Protocol
The Survival Protocol is the safeword structure.
There are two safe-words: “bamboo” and “cut”.
1) Bamboo:
“Bamboo” signals you reached your limit or endurance. It prevents escalation of intensity. It also signals surrender to martial arts submission techniques.
Equivalents when speech is not possible:
– Two audible “hmm” sounds, as in ‘bam-boo’.
– Two clear taps, as is done in martial arts practice.
2) Cut:
“Cut” halts all action and allows negotiation. It also grants you a toilet break or 5 minutes by yourself in the Transition Unit. Use it to collect yourself, answer your phone or freshen up.
Equivalent when speech is not possible:
Three short and clear “hm” sounds, as if you’re spelling out ‘c-u-t’.
Fixed Protocol
The Revival Protocol covers the return from imposed control into autonomy.
Towards the end of the session you will receive the instruction to stand up straight on an allocated spot and close your eyes. Followed by a countdown from ten. At zero your session has ended.
You proceed to the Transition Unit and use the time needed to cooldown, freshen up and prepare for departure.
When you are ready, you press the doorbell next to the dojo entrance and wait until you are being let out.
